Lisbon saw him born, but it was the piano that moulded his world.
He was given his first instrument at the age of five and has never stopped playing since. At nine, he was already immersed in classical training, honoured with a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and awards that heralded a unique career.
His music took him to theatres, to collaborations with lyric singers, DJs and, especially, to the world of dance, where he found a unique connection between the piano and the body in movement. He became a sought-after pianist in both classical and contemporary ballet, playing alongside the great masters of dance.
During the pandemic, he shared daily live sessions, creating an emotional space with those who listened to him. In 2021, he was personally invited by Vhils to present his debut album, Home, at the Iminente Festival.
With pieces composed during the long, silent nights of that time, Home became the soundtrack for films, campaigns and stories that needed soul.
Then it became silent. A pause between movements.
Now, in 2025, Hugo returns with another time on his hands, but with the same freedom.
